Train the Trainer

This course supports those who are involved in the promotion of learning and the development of others.  The course gives simple and practical advice on supporting the learning of different tasks with different people.

During the day we will focus upon group learning.  Leisure focused examples will allow delegates to plan and deliver effective training, deal with difficult learns and evaluating learning.

Who should attend?

This one-day course is a suitable introduction for anyone who takes on the role of trainer or coach to leisure staff or volunteers.  It is ideal for those with little or no training experience, or those who simply want to refresh their skills. 

Course outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Identify modes of training appropriate to different leisure situations and tasks;
  • Undertake task analysis to plan training;
  • Identify and address common barriers to learning;
  • Describe behaviour patterns of the four learners styles;
  • Plan and deliver group learning activities that motivate a range of learners;
  • Understand basic group dynamics;
  • Confidently manage challenging situations and behaviour; and
  • Use basic techniques to evaluate learning experiences.
