The Certificate in Community Sports Work (CCSW) Level 3 VRQ

This qualification is the first of its kind in the UK and it is aimed at community sports coaches, sport and youth officers and activity leaders.  This national established qualification is recognised by all major funding bodies that look for trained and qualified staff.  As well as being a professional development qualification, it is also a vocational pathway for anyone looking to progress in community sport as well as for those with a conventional sports degree.

1. Developing a Community Sports Programme:

  • Understanding the difference between community and conventional sports development; 
  • Developing rapport;
  • Developing effective programmes within the community;
  • Starting to monitor and evaluate.

2. Leading a Community Sports Programme:

  • Engagement strategies and building relationships;
  • Managing challenging behaviour;
  • Identifying pathways to future development;
  • Moving beyond sport.

 3. Concluding a Community Sports Programme:

  • Dealing with unexpected outcomes;
  • Providing access to further opportunities;
  • Mentoring, and personal development plans;
  • Managing growth in developing community sport.

Course length - 2 consecutive days plus fieldwork in an employment or voluntary capacity (allowances 44 hours)

This course is a Level 2 - 3 VRQ.  Accredited by Sports Leaders UK, it consists of 60 guided learning hours, 24 Tutored and 36 individual learning hours.
