The Certificate in Managing Community Sport - 2 day

The VRQ level 3 technical certificate raises the bar of understanding and good practice in community sport.  This national established qualification is recognised by all major funding bodies that look for training and qualified staff.

The course will cover:

• The potential that sport has for addressing the wider social welfare agenda;

• Emerging government policy related to sport-based social inclusion;

• Challenging assumptions about 'community';

• Police and practices of other organisations relevant to your work in community-based sport;

• Understanding relationships and hierarchies;

• Managing growth and sustainability of a community project;

• Different types of socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods;

• Networking; and

• Participartory monitoring and evaluation techniques.

 

CMCS is aimed at supervisors, leaders and managers of existing community sports projects or centres interested in furthering their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and at experienced Senior Managers in Sports Development or Leisure Management who wish to complement their CPD with an understanding of the key issues and current practice standards in Community Sport.

Course length - 2 consecutive days plus fieldwork in an employment or voluntary capacity (allowance 44 hours)

 

Course outcomes

 

To qualify for the above Level 3 award candidates must demonstrate that they have the core competencies required of Community Sports Coaches and/or Sports Development Officers.  This measured will be measured by assessing the outcomes demonstrated in a field book mapped to the National Occupational Standards outcomes and specifically indicated against each unit's 'K' numbers.
